I am a therapeutic counsellor with ten years of experience in both the private and public sectors working with an client age range of 18+ - 65+.
Like many other therapists I worked almost exclusively in a room, face-to-face with clients until the pandemic. During lockdown I moved over to on-line platforms to continue the work with my clients.
Once restrictions were lifted I went back to work at Meadows Wellbeing in Billingshurst, West Sussex, and at the same time it was noticeable that my work on-line and work on the phone continued to grow. For many, on-line work has become the norm, both convenient and time saving. Indeed, current evidence shows that on-line work is as effective as face-to-face work.
While I really embrace both online and in-person work, I see the majority of my clients online. What I deeply believe in, and am completely committed to, is the healing power of the therapeutic relationship, which develops and deepens in these differing environments.
Online work means you can:

Choose to do your therapy in the comfort of your home or during a break at work
without having to travel -
Access to counselling may be more immediate

You can choose the technology that feels best for you, by phone or Zoom

Less risk of being seen entering the counsellor’s practice
And to consider:

Ensuring that you have a private and confidential space

Body language is harder to read on Zoom and limited non-verbal cues on the telephone

Are you comfortable using internet technology

Would you prefer to see a therapist face-to-face
